On Feburary-5th, a lecture on climate change was held in NUS. The first part which was lectured by Dr. Shie-Yui Liong includes a brief introduction to climate change and modeling. Actually, the climate was relatively steady until 100 years ago. A lot of evidence shows that human activity (Green house gases, especially carbon hydrogen) accounts for global warming. And what makes this issue serious is that climate change may bring up bad results in the long term future because even after the carbon hydrogen stabilizes, the sea level will still go up. Many island countries, including Singapore, are in danger. After that, the lecturer introduced the important method used to study this problem named Global Climate Model (GCM). It is the most comprehensive climate models developed and run at the climate research centers. There also exists a Regional Climate Model (RCM) which has a much higher resolution. However, GCM and RCM are not adequate for hydrological purpose because it is coarse, so dynamical techniques are carried out to downscale GCM output to limit uncertainties.

After reading your summary, I notice that global warming is really a serious issue nowadays. As Dr. Shie-Yui Liong said, the sea level is keeping rising due to the global warming. The glaciers in the South and North Pole are melting rapidly. Many countries, especially those coastal countries such as Singapore, Japan, are in danger. These island countries will sink sooner or later unless people take some measures. It is human beings that give rise to this problem. We need to retrieve this situation. The scientists have created GCM and RCM models to study the global warming. Although there are some imperfections in two models, I think it is still useful to relieve the issue. Meanwhile, we also need to try our best to stop global warming. For example, we should save papers to protect trees and use refrigerator without Freon to prevent the damage of ozonosphere. All these things can help prevent the global warming. We should be aware that global warming has been a serious issue which is threatening our life. It is necessary to take measures to protect our life and earth. People cannot only consider about the current profits and destroy all the sources of the earth. We should consider for our posterities and give them a good environment instead of a dying earth.

Huang xin's summary is brief, but captures the main idea of the first lecture. Yufeng's comment is interesting, especially when you mention not to give to our future generations a "dying earth". There are a few slips in language use though, e.g. there is no need for "the" before global warming here when you are referring to it as a general phenomenon. The expression "retrieve this situation" has a collocation problem--check online collocation dictionary for a proper verb that goes before "situation".
